Local Cycle Friendly Cafes

Postby bmstewart2004 » Sun Apr 15, 2018 1:16 pm

Hi Folks,
I'm a returnee to the the area having been away from the are for the last 20 years.
One of the delights of cycling is the traditional Cake and Coffee stop mid ride.
On a club ride a couple of weeks ago we stopped at Alford Bistro which was great.
How about putting up a listing of other suitable stops in the area to help newbies like me find the best cafes for the mid ride break?
I hope to meet up with you again in the coming week.
Cheers

Hi Bill

Good to hear from you again, hope all is well down south.

A list of cake stops is a good idea, will have a chat with the website guy.

For local rides we usually use the following four places:

1. The Alford Bistro - Alford

2. Old Post Office Tearoom - Chapel of Garioch
https://www.facebook.com/Old-Post-Offic ... 453408701/

3. Deans Café - Huntly

4. Sidings Café - Dufftown

Hope to catch up with you soon.

Cheers

Hi Folks,
I'd an enjoyable couple of weeks in the area recently riding from Inverurie to Stanley (and on to South Queensferry the next day) and then with a friend riding some routes suggested by Ian Smith last week.
We visited the Dufftown Railway cafe and had great cake but also;
Tarland Pharmacy https://www.facebook.com/pg/tarlandphar ... e_internal
Initially visited on the beautiful sunny day a couple of weeks ago with the Service Course guys heading South and again last week with my mate. The folks there were exceptionally nice and very knowledgable in telling us that Carlos Sastre had been there the day before with another Service Course group!
Finally I'll add the wee cafe in Insch where stopped on the way home on Saturday when the coffee and cake was a nice pick me up.
Cheers
Bill
